Marilyn, Britney, Madonna what do they all have in common? Their signature bleached blonde locks of course. I was 18 and wanted a change of hair colour, I had been through a few style changes the previous few years but being a natural brunette, I had never ventured to the lighter side of life and so with that I had decided, blonde it was.
I didn't want any old blonde, oh no, my vibe was let's just say bleach blonde, early 00's, playboy bunny. Sure highlights are the way to go if you want to transition your hair from dark to light if you are going for a subtle look, however I have never really been a fan of the subtle look.
So on went the store bought, box bleach and out came ultimate trashy 90's blonde, which was pretty much the vibe I was going for. Honestly, blondes do have more fun, let's just say you get alot of attention, I mean when your vibe is Playboy Bunny, it's pretty hard not to take notice. Blondes do have more fun, but what is the cost of becoming a blonde bombshell? Ultimately the cost is having any kind of healthy hair, bleach pretty much destroys your hair, it stripes it of any natural oils, leaving it dry as anything. It was an idea I had, had for a while to see what it would be like to have the same hue of hair as so many of my favourite female icons and as it grows back I thought why not.
Ultimately I learned that bright blonde hair grabs alot of attention, however the price you pay for having such a look in the end is the health of your locks. But if you want to try a new look, even if it is only for a couple of months and live like a star of the Silver Screen, go for it, just look out for a few dumb blonde jokes along the way.
